Supreme Court Solves Racisms In Affirmative Action Case
Students for Fair Admissions v. Harvard, 600 U.S. ___ (2023)
Episode #52
Today on Legalese we will be discussing the Supreme Court's landmark equal protection clause case dealing with the constitutionality of racially biased admission discrimination policies.
The Case is Students For Fair Admission v Harvard, which effectively puts an end to affirmative action in college admissions under Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
The Court found that Harvard and UNC affirmative action policies fail required exceptions to the Constitution's demand for equal protection. Namely, the daunting two-step examination of judicial review under the “strict scrutiny” standard.
